Draft for review by a Utah attorney. Not legal advice.
E-Sign Consent
Version 1.0 (draft, 2026-10-17)
This is the exact text for accepting a quote electronically. It’s written to meet the federal ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. 7001 and following) and the Utah Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (Utah Code Title 46, Chapter 4) [VERIFY citations]. Most clients are businesses, so the strict ESIGN consumer rules may not apply, but this covers them anyway in case a client signs as an individual.
1. Short notice above the signature box (on the quote page)
Signing electronically. By checking the box below and tapping Accept quote, you agree to sign this quote and the Service Agreement electronically, and to get the agreement, invoices and notices from me electronically (on this page and by email or text). Your typed name and drawn signature count the same as signing on paper. Read the full E-Sign Consent
2. Checkbox line
Current wording on the Trailhead quote page and the old Netlify quote page:
I accept this quote and its terms, and I agree that my signature above is my electronic signature.
Proposed wording (needs the Service Agreement and this consent linked from the page):
I accept this quote and the Service Agreement, I agree to sign and receive documents electronically (E-Sign Consent), and my signature above is my electronic signature.
The box starts unchecked. Accept stays blocked until the name, the signature and the box are all done (already how Trailhead works).
3. Full E-Sign Consent (linked page)
Doing business electronically with Snowpine Code LLC
Before you accept a quote, please read this. It explains how signing and getting documents electronically works.
What you’re agreeing to. You agree that Snowpine Code LLC can give you the quote, the Service Agreement, invoices, receipts and notices electronically, and that you can sign them electronically. This covers this quote and any later change, invoice or plan for the same project, until you take your consent back.
How you sign. You type your name, draw your signature with your finger, trackpad or mouse, check the box, and tap Accept quote. That is your electronic signature. It’s legally the same as signing on paper.
How you’ll get documents. On your private quote page, and by email or text to the contact info you gave me.
What you need. A phone, tablet or computer with a current web browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox), internet access, and an email address or phone number that gets texts. To keep a copy, you need a way to save or print a page (every quote page has a Save a copy button that saves a PDF or prints it). If you can open this page, you have what you need.
Paper copies. You can ask for a paper or PDF copy of anything you signed, at no charge. Email kevin@snowpinecode.com.
Changing your mind. You can take back your consent to electronic documents any time by emailing kevin@snowpinecode.com. After that, I’ll send things on paper or as PDFs for you to sign by hand. Taking it back doesn’t undo anything you already signed, and doesn’t cost anything.
Keeping your contact info current. If your email or phone changes, text or email me the new one.
If something changes. If what you need to open or keep documents ever changes in a way that could stop you from getting them, I’ll tell you and you can choose again.
4. What gets recorded when you accept
Stored with the quote in my business database (Cloudflare D1, table acceptances), and never shown to anyone else:
| Recorded | Why |
|---|---|
| Quote number and the quote it belongs to | Which agreement was signed |
| The name you typed | Who signed |
| Your drawn signature (a small PNG image) | The signature itself |
| Date and time (from the server, in UTC; shown in Mountain time) | When it was signed |
| Items you accepted and items you declined | What you agreed to |
| One-time and monthly totals, recalculated by the server from the saved quote | The price you agreed to (the page’s own numbers are never trusted) |
| Browser user agent (first 300 characters) | Device and browser used, for the record |
| A daily-salted, one-way hash of your IP address (the raw IP is never stored; the salt is deleted after about 2 days) | Shows whether two acceptances came from the same place, without keeping your IP |
| That the private link was opened (first view, last view, count) | Shows you received it |
The checkbox must be checked for the server to accept (agree === true), so every acceptance on record includes it.
A quote can only be accepted once, and not after it expires.
Gaps to close before relying on this (see README): the record does not yet save which agreement version was shown, a frozen copy or hash of the quote text at the moment of signing, or the exact checkbox wording. Lodge can still edit a quote’s details after it’s accepted. And the client doesn’t get an automatic email copy.
5. What you get after you accept
A thank-you screen with your signature, what you accepted and the totals, plus a Save a copy button. [PLANNED: an email with a PDF copy sent to the client within a few minutes.]
